People of Ward End - Girl Grind UK

People of Ward End (P.O.W) is a project led by Girl Grind UK, which brings together residents from across Ward End in Birmingham to work with selected poetry, music, visual and dance artists to co-create a performance piece.

P.O.W works predominately with women and non-binary people to explore the arts and environment. There are six workshops in total, with members of Dolphin Women’s Centre and Unity Hub getting involved.

Participants are encouraged to express their local pride, learn about the Commonwealth Games, talk about what country they are from and converse in their mother tongue.

One of the six workshops is a Bangla dance fitness class which takes place in Ward End Park.

Each workshop will be filmed with the view to create a 25-minute documentary called P.O.W, with the aim of reinventing the image of Ward End.
