Birmingham City Council is preparing the stage to host the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The Commonwealth Games is expected to bring together 6,500 athletes and over one million spectators to the city of Birmingham and the wider region for a festival of sport and culture in the summer of 2022.

These Games will be the largest event held in region as we host 11 days of sport, across 15 competition venues. It requires a significant collaborative effort to keep the city and region moving, safe and alive with a celebratory atmosphere.

Working with Games partners, the city council has a key role in ensuring the city’s residents, businesses and stakeholder groups are aware of the temporary impacts and opportunities related the event. From making sure our streets are clean and regular services are operating efficiently, to keeping the network moving. Our collaborative efforts will ensure the city continues to operate effectively during the Games period.
