Celebrating Communities Small Grants Funding Scheme

Celebrating Communities Small Grants Funding Scheme was a £2million council fund created to help people celebrate the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The project was assembled by Birmingham City Council to maximise the benefits and legacy of being the Proud Host City for the Games.

Grants were made available to all 69 of the city’s wards to ensure everyone feels involved with the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games – regardless of whether they have a competition or cultural event in their neighbourhood or not.

Successful applications were based on projects delivering against one of three themes: ‘Get Active’, ‘Ready, Steady, Fun’ and ‘Celebrating Culture.

This page details some of the many projects to have received Celebrating Communities funding from Birmingham City Council, and how we were able to support people in all parts of the Proud Host City to embrace the Games.
