Nathaniel, be proud hero profile

“I’m proud to be from Birmingham because it’s a city of culture and diversity. From being a local person that I play football in LGBTQ+ team and I works in a special needs school, having the two together is quite a unique mix.

Birmingham Blaze FC is all about the community in Birmingham. We try and get people involved no matter their ability or background, whether that’s socially or football. It’s a hub where can be comfortable amongst like-minded people.

My biggest dream is to have a combination of working with special needs children to realise their potential in sport. For them to also have a greater capacity for what they want to do in the future, to explore more opportunities in their life.

One thing I’d like people to take from the Commonwealth Games is to have that community atmosphere and be proud of the city of where they are. To get involved, to be within the community more and to be supportive of one another.”
