City of connections

Our city is the best-connected city outside of the south east with 90% of the UK’s population less than four hours drive away. We are at the heart of the UK’s rail network and the new national high speed rail service, HS2, will connect Birmingham to London in 45 minutes from the end of the decade.

We are investing £1.3 billion to expand the metro and bus priority systems connecting city neighbourhoods and with the city centre, as well as green cycling and walking routes across Birmingham. This puts 850,000 people less than 30 minutes from the city centre by public transport, the largest catchment of any regional UK city.

Our city is the UK’s 5G pioneer, with the highest level of 5G networks in the UK.

Our people are connected with each other, the country and the rest of the world.
