Physical activity and wellbeing programme

A young girl learns how to box with an instructor at a Community Games event

The Physical Activity and Wellbeing Programme was a region-wide programme of funding to support physical activity and wellbeing activity. The community fund gives the opportunity to enhance existing projects that are already underway in the city and to maximise engagement opportunities for residents across the city.

Community Games

Community Games was a city-wide programme, funded by Birmingham City Council and other partners, that provided opportunities for people to try different sports and physical activities in a safe and friendly environment.

The Community Games brought together families and local children’s clubs regardless of age or ability.

At each event, children collected stickers for trying different activities, which earned them their very own medal to take away at the end of the day.

The aim of each Community Games was for people to get active, have fun and be inspired! This did not disappoint and over 8,000 attended the Community Games – as well as the first Oncology and Haematology

Community Games at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, an event delivered for young people undergoing treatment for cancer, and their families.
